The first command copies the WIM image to the working directory:

copype.cmd x64c:\Winpe_x64

This will copy the x86 WIM file and create the necessary working directories.
To create a 64bit WinPE environment just substitute “x86” with “x64” in the command line above.
Before I mount it I like to run the following command to clean up any remnants of previous mounts.

DISM /Cleanup-Wim

Now we need to mount the WIM file so we can begin customizing it:

Dism /Mount-Wim /WimFile:C:\winpe_x64\winpe.wim /index:1 /MountDir:C:\winpe_x64\mount

Now that it is mounted we can begin modifying the contents.
You can browse to c:\winpe_x86\mount and add files and/or directories.
They should be standalone executable. You can also add drivers here for network and mass storage controllers for the hardware in your environment.

DISM /image:c:\winpe_x64\mount /Add-Driver /driver:C:\PathToINFFiles\ /recurse

The /recuse switch will traverse the folder structure and include all the drivers in the folder and sub folders. Simply extract all the drivers to one directory and point to it. No need to run this multiple times to pull in each driver individually.
There are also some add-ons you can include to provide support for things like WMI:

Dism /image:C:\winpe_x86\mount /Add-Package /PackagePath:”C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\x86\WinPE_FPs\winpe-wmi.cab”

Dism /image:C:\winpe_x86\mount /Add-Package /PackagePath:”C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\x86\WinPE_FPs\en-us\winpe-wmi_en-us.cab”

Or the System Recovery Environment:

Dism /image:C:\winpe_x86\mount /Add-Package /PackagePath:”C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\x86\WinPE_FPs\winpe-SRT.cab”

Once you have copied your files you need to commit the changes to the WIM file:

Dism /Unmount-Wim /MountDir:C:\winpe_x86\mount\ /Commit

Once the changes have been committed we will replace the default boot.wim file with our customized image:

copy c:\winpe_x86\winpe.wim c:\winpe_x86\ISO\sources\boot.wim

The last step is to create an ISO to burn to a CD/DVD or copy to a bootable USB key.

oscdimg -n -bc:\winpe_x86\etfsboot.com c:\winpe_x86\ISO c:\winpe_x86\winpe_x86.iso

FIN…

Packages you can add include:

WinPE-FONTSupport-<region> – Additional font support for the following languages: ja-JP, ko-KR, zh-CN, zh-HK, and zh-TW.

WinPE-HTA – HTML Application support. Enables the creation of GUI applications using the Windows Internet Explorer® script engine and HTML services.

To add a new Boot.wim to the media, add either child package in addition to the Setup and Media packages. This package is required to support Windows Server® 2008 R2 installation.

WinPE-MDAC – Microsoft® Data Access Component support. Enables queries to SQL servers with Active Directory Objects (ADO). Example usage: building a dynamic Unattend from unique system information.

WinPE-PPPoE – Enables Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) support. Create, connect, disconnect and delete PPPoE connections from Windows PE.

FOR WOMEN: HOW TO BE A TRUE FRIEND TO A MAN

1. Never speak badly of him to anyone, not your Mother, Sisters or Girlfriends. If someone is critical of him, stand up for him.

2. Be true to the friendship you share even when you’re mad at him, or when you feel that you’ve been shortchanged in some way. When you’re both tired, take care of his needs first instead of your own.

3. When you’re first getting acquainted, remember that you’re not taking applications for a job so don’t constantly focus on what he brings to the relationship. That will only make him think you’re conceited and arrogant. Focus your attention on finding out all the wonderful aspects of his personality and what you can provide for him.

4. Act in such a way that he always feels respected in your presence. For instance, if he thinks you drive too fast, when he’s with you, drive slower.

5. When he’s been slighted by something you’ve said or done, instead of defending your good intentions and point of view(such as “I was only trying to…”) listen carefully to what he says. Do not transfer blame to him by saying, “I’m sorry you misunderstood what I said.” Begin your apology with these words, “I’m sorry that I…”

6. When he wants to talk, stop what you are doing, close your book, turn off the TV, turn off your cell phone, move what you were doing far away from you, and don’t look at your watch every three minutes like you’re thinking, “How long is this going to take?” Give him your complete attention. Look at him when he’s speaking. Every once in a while, nod or say, “okay” so he’ll know you’re listening. Avoid trying to add your problems. He will take that as asking for help in solving the issue. Sometimes he just needs someone to listen to him, so learn to become a better listener.

7. Understand he’s not perfect but, of course, neither are you. Do your best to understand his point of view. Cherish him the way he is now, not how you desire him to be. He is not a project.

8. Know when his birthday is and plan ahead of time what you’re going to get him. Also, know the names of him brothers and sisters. Know what his favorite color is, him favorite dessert, him favorite movie, his favorite activities and the music he loves. Learn as much as you can about him and how he likes to spend his time by asking him questions.

9. Send him tokens of appreciation once in a while–not for a special occasion but just to let him know you’re thinking of him. Show and tell him how important he is to you. Ask him what he wants from you and do not discount his feelings and thoughts.

10. If he loves to go to car shows, go with him. If he likes to go to sports activities, go with him. If he loves to go wind surfing, go with him. Let him teach you what he loves to and, in turn, teach him what you love.

Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group recently displayed some very advanced 3D technology. 3D without glasses has been around for awhile but it has always had some limitations. One of the largest limitations is that it only works for one viewer and that viewer must keep their eyes within a specific area. The displays do this by using lenses or filters that divide the image between the viewer’s eyes creating a 3D effect without relying on glasses that use active or passive means to only show specific images to each eye.

Microsoft’s new display relies on a wedge shaped lens that doubles as the screen. It uses motion tracking capability to track up to 4 viewers and display a 3D image to each of them. The motion tracking is vital to displaying 3D without glasses as this form of 3D is impossible without knowing the viewer’s head position. As we stated before, this can be done without head tracking but it only works for one viewer and that person must keep their head in a very specific position or the 3D effect will be lost. With the motion tracking ability the display can focus the 3D effect in real time on the viewer by detecting and constantly updating their position. Nintendo is using this technology combined with a paralax filter in their new handheld gaming device they announced at E3.

The real breakthrough with this Microsoft display is the ability to track and display 3D to 4 viewers at once. Currently the technology is limited to a 20 degree viewing angle though the researchers feel they will be able to get it up to at least 40 degrees. In the case of LCD and LED screens you’ll experience picture degradation at angles wider than this anyway so it’s not such a big deal.

With the recent issues with McAffe I realize that Microsoft Security Essentials is a real blessing.
The testing I have done comparing it to Norton and McAffe is great. I now use it instead of Norton or McAffe on all of my PC’s.
So the protection is 1st rate. BUT, the best part is that it does not slow down my machine like Norton and McAffe. Hands down the best anti-virus software I have found.

Paint.net, and Gimp are the Image editing software that really holds up. Does everything that I need and far more. Photoshop does have more plugins and such. But, Gimp is very close to photoshop that I can not think of anything that Photoshop can do that Gimp can not.
Paint.net is one good image editor and creator. good for most uses. A must have.

Windows Live Essentials is a must for me.

Programs you can download include:

Messenger

Mail

Writer

Photo Gallery

Movie Maker

Family Safety

Toolbar

Additional programs:

Microsoft Office Outlook® Connector

Office Live Add-in

Microsoft Silverlight

these programs I use everyday. Toolbar… I can live without, and do.

Adobe acrobat reader is a must these days but all those updates… could use another PDF reader and there may be one better but I have not looked yet.

ImgBurn is my fave burning software for creating ISOs and Burning ISOs. Small and does the job.

Microsoft Virtual CD is my choice to mount ISOs. I have heard that it does not work in Windows 7, but I just set compatibility and it works fine for me. Lucky I guess. I have done DVD’s too. If VCD does not work then I like Virtual Clone Drive. This utility will let you mount .ISO, .CCD, .DVD, .IMG, .UDF and .BIN files.

Some web resources I like are:

http://www.osalt.com/ is a site that lists open source software to commercial software.
A good place to find free for programs you want but can not afford.

Mint.com free financial software, kinda like Quicken.
